MEET THE ASSOCIATES

Jessie Edwards MA CCC-SLP, PC- Jessie has been working in the practice since 2010 . She is a PROMPT Certified Clinician with extensive experience working with children 18 months through adolescence with a variety of diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Language Delays, Executive Functioning Disorder, and Apraxia. She values a varied approach that includes Oral Motor, PROMPT, and PECS. Jessie cares deeply for the families she has the opportunity to work with. She attends team meetings, visits schools, and mentors other team members to ensure the children in her care are receiving the best intervention possible.

I am so thankful to Jessie! My son was not talking at all and never babbled. Within a couple sessions he was making his first sounds and was soon forming words for the first time in his life. Jessie's expertise and use of the Prompt technique made all the difference. She has always gone above and beyond for him.  He is now talking up a storm and we are understanding what he needs and says. We are eternally grateful!

Rachel Dean -  Rachel joined the practice part-time this year last year and has since joined full time.  She is Bridging Level PROMPT trained and will be completing her Certification this year. Rachel has been under the guidance of Michelle Solomon since initially learning PROMPT. She has worked through EI, CPSE, CSE as well as privately throughout NYC.  Rachel is dedicated to treating each child holistically. She is highly experienced in both language and motor planning disorders and delays. Rachel is dedicated to developing strong relationships with the children's families and other team members as she likes to use a collaborative approach during treatment.  Rachel looks forward to working with the practice long-term.

Speech therapy with Rachel has been wonderful for my daughter, Ava.  Her self-confidence has improved dramatically and her motivation to conquer her speech issues has never been higher.  Rachel is warm, caring and encouraging and the tips she gives Ava to make adjustments in her speech are easy to understand and implement.  She sets realistic goals and creates an environment in which Ava sees improvement in herself from one meeting to the next.  It gives her the motivation to practice and self-correct.  She's on the road to age-appropriate speech and we couldn't be happier for her.

Tova Kaufman MS CCC-SLP-   Tova is a well respected colleague who has been practicing in Manhattan for over a decade. She has extensive training in a variety of techniques including PROMPT, Oral Motor, Augmentative Communication, and ABA. She has worked with early intervention, preschool and school age populations in charter schools, homes and private practice. She has been a supervisor at Columbia University and currently works at Hunter College as a supervisor in the Communication Disorders Department. Tova provides the quality of care and intervention that we guarantee each family in our practice. She enjoys the close interaction with caregivers that comes with working in a child's home.

Tova worked with my son for many years. We started with her when he was 20 months and completely non-verbal and finished with her when he was 5 and very verbal! She was very knowledgeable about what she does also did a wonderful job getting my child to do things that as the parent he would not do for me. He loved going to speech it was never a struggle. She is a wonderful therapist!!

Lauren Zierer MA CCC-SLP- Lauren specializes in the assessment and treatment of a variety of language disorders and delays in children from 18 months through adolescence. She works primarily with school age children and is a supervisor at Hunter College in the Communication Disorders Department. She provides sessions in the home after school hours on the UES and UWS. Lauren ensures that sessions are motivating yet intensive to meet the needs of each child she has the opportunity to work with. She values a team approach and parent involvement.  Lauren Zierer, M.A., CCC-SLP:  Lauren is an experienced therapist who has been practicing for ten years. She has had a variety of experiences in school based settings including private, public, and special education programs servicing preschool and school aged students.  Throughout her school experiences she has treated a variety of receptive and expressive langauge needs and well as pragmatic disorders. In addition, she has treated home based clients through both the NEw York City Early Intervention and CPSE programs.  Lauren has been a clinical supervisor at Hunter College for the past six years as well as an adjunct professor in their Communication Disorders Department and the Linguistics and Communication Disorders Department at Queens College.   Lauren provides the quality of care and intervention that we guarantee each family in our practice. She enjoys the close interaction with caregivers that comes with working in a child's home.

Working with Lauren Zierer has made an incredible impact on my daughter’s life. From the initial assessment she was able to break down, in easy to understand terms, not only my daughter’s deficits but where she also excelled. We were able to comprehend my daughter’s oral motor and expressive/receptive language challenges and how to move forward in creating a realistic and successful action plan. Lauren treated my daughter with kindness and sensitivity. It has been a pleasure working with her.
